First of all I would like to give a shout out to David and Diana. Have the Happiest 25th Anniversary! Hope you love your Ice Cream Favors!
We just opened our Etsy store so we have been anticipating the moment of getting a sale. We’ve been working really hard on various projects and trying to spread the word about what we are all about. This whole “getting your name out there” has been quite a process. I get so excited when I see the result of our hard work when we get likes and favorites. I’m like a little kid in a candy store, in aw that people actually like my work and found me somehow.
This past weekend I was on a mini vacation and I got a notification from a potential customer. So exciting! The customer was so nice and really liked our Sugar and Spice tags and wanted to customize them for her parents 25th anniversary party. After answering all her questions and concerns she decided to go with us and bought our custom designed tags. It was soooooo nice and awesome to get that notification of our first sale. We just designed these Custom Ice Cream favor tags for their Anniversary party! They wanted it lilac, white and cream, using florals and customized with different ice cream flavors. Above is what we came up with for their special event.
Canva Mint, Pink, and Gold Mood boardEvery party should start off with a mood board for inspiration with colors and things you would like to try to see incorporated! This helps us as designers to come up with a cohesive look for the printable and decor. Pinterest is always a good place to start! It’s our go to for ideas and inspirations. We love it! follow us on our Pinterest to see what were interested in.
I was surfing through the web for color pallets and inspirations and discovered this company called Canva! I saw that they create mood boards for you. It’s pretty awesome.
So my next project is planning a 10-year-old girls birthday party. Her favorite colors are mint, pink and gold. So we decided that will be the theme throughout. We will incorporate those colors to keep the party looking cohesive. So the first step was to pin things we liked and create a mood board. Above is what we came up with. Were thinking a macron cake, a mint, pink and gold balloon garland and other printable to match. The party is going to be held at Mint Studio in Carmel Valley so the girls will be doing a craft of some sort. We were thinking of having all the girls paint a blank canvas book with watercolors to create a smashbook. With this in mind we are incorporating the watercolor look throughout as well. Let’s see what we come up with!
Knowing that everyone has a different idea in mind when they are throwing a party or event, we knew we needed to offer a custom graphic design service. We can design your entire party, to just designing specific elements of your party like the invitations, favor tags, posters or signs. You name it, we can design it.
If what you are looking for isn’t offered on our etsy shop, we feel free to email us at dohlhousedesigns.hj@gmail.com and we can help you via email. We take pride in our designs and look forward to making your event as special as possible.
I was in a rush to pick up my son from preschool and get to a Valentine’s day playdate at a friend’s house. I didn’t want to show up empty-handed without cards so I quickly picked up my phone and searched on my trusty Pinterest. We had bought a huge box of twizzlers the night before for the kids in my nieces and nephews class so I looked up “twizzler v-day cards” and these simple arrows popped up. So I thought this is perfect and super cute to make with my heart paper punch! FIY I love paper punches!!!! Best invention for the crafters out there in DIY-land! Anyways here is how it turned out!
Not bad for a “at a whim” kind of project, right?? I just punched out hearts in various shades of pink paper and hand cut the feathered end. Then for the tags I punched out tag and hand wrote a cute message. If I hadn’t procrastinated so much I probably would have designed and printed out a tag but these hand written tags turned out cute and simple if I do say so myself!
So here’s the process:
For the feathered end: cut out a rectangle about 2in x 3in.
Fold it in half
Cut the left and right edge at a diagonal.
Cut 2 slits on the folded end (top).
Cut slits all along the open edge (bottom).

An Easy Guide to Start Blogging, Earn Money and be successful
Starting a new business is no joke. First, it took me a long time to just get started. I had the talent to design, I just needed the motivation or a kick in the butt to hurry up and just do it. This is seriously a full-time gig on its own. I’m trying to juggle all these social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Etsy, Pinterest and this Blog. (dohlhousedesigns.com)
Trying to get my name out there has been hard. One thing I just tried was I asked a few of my good friends that I have designed many things for in the past to help my out by posting and liking stuff of mine on their social media. I figured it was worth a shot to start a chain reaction of them liking my stuff, to their friends liking it to their friends and so on. We’ll see how it turns out… I think I need to be more proactive and keep posting things but I don’t want to seem intrusive and quite frankly annoying to my friends. This isn’t going to be easy that’s for sure.
I’m also dabbling into affiliate marketing. It’s a bit daunting and scary but it doesn’t hurt to try. From what I take it’s a way to promote other people on your site and you get PAID!!! Show me the money! Haven’t seen it yet because I just started but I’ll keep you all posted in case your are interested.
Ok..So do you want to know what I’ve done so far to get started. Well I opened a wordpress blog and paid for my domain. I think this is very important to have your own domain name so you seem legit. You’ll also seem a lot more trustworthy to your readers as well. I’m also paying for hosting my site. Bluehost is a great hosting company that provides affordable hosting for like $5.95/month!!! That is a steal. I know because I have been paying for hosting for my personal portfolio for over 10 years now.
So, now I’m trying to management all this affiliate marketing stuff, design new products to showcase and sell on my etsy shop, write new posts, and also keep my son entertained and happy. I think now I need to invest in a new planner and prioritize my work to keep organized and happy. I’ve had my eye on the Heidi Swapp Memory Planner Large Gold Foil Stripes Planner 122 Piece.
It’s so beautiful and clean-looking. I just love everything HeidiSwapp comes out with. I’m going to plan out my week and just focus on 2 or 3 items for that day like:
Mon – Design a new product, Update etsy, instagram and facebook
Tues – Focus on Pinterest and write a new post
Wed – Write Affiliate post
Thurs – New design, Create Business cards and handouts
On the video they were saying that Galentine’s Day was celebrated on February 13th with girl friends and that it should be a national holiday! It really should be a national holiday. I think every girl needs to celebrate at least one day out of the year with their gals. That would be awesome!
Anyways, one of my good friends Sara invited me to attend a Galentine’s Day celebration with some good girl friends and it was amazing. She did a spectacular job in setting up the event. She had cute little signs everywhere, little mailbox place card holders, flowers and chocolates in the center. It was a day to remember for sure. We each enjoyed our dinner and drinks and took home a box of chocolates.
The superhero training camp party was in full swing, with kids dressed up as their favorite comic book characters, playing games and having a blast. I carefully planned this to try and make it an unforgettable event. The DIY Gotham City backdrop was the perfect backdrop for photos, and the handmade fondant superhero cookie toppers were a hit with the kids.
But one of the games stood out as a real crowd-pleaser: the “diffused Bomb Game.” It was a simple yet fun game that involved filling black balloons with small toys and candy, then letting the kids go wild trying to pop as many balloons as they could.
The rules were simple: there were no rules. The kids were free to go in and try to pop as many balloons as they could, with the promise of keeping the prizes inside. The game was like a pinata, but without the need for hanging anything and without the risk of young children swinging bats around.
The kids were excited as they saw the balloons laid out on the floor, waiting to be popped. They eagerly grabbed the balloons and started stomping on them, trying to find the prizes inside. Some kids were jumping up and down, trying to pop the balloons with their hands, while others were rolling over them.
As the game continued, the room filled with the sounds of laughter and popping balloons. The parents couldn’t help but chuckle as they watched their little superheroes go wild, trying to collect as many prizes as they could.
In the end, every child had a smile on their face, and the parents were impressed with the simplicity and fun of the “diffused Bomb Game.” It was a great addition to the superhero training camp party, and everyone left feeling like they had a blast.
It was a success creating a memorable and entertaining party for all of the young superheroes in attendance, and the “diffused Bomb Game” had played a key role in making that happen.

To achieve the look for this party! I printed these banners, and paper goods from our etsy shop and decorated everything with it. It’s definitely an inexpensive effective way to make your party look like a superhero’s training camp. Check out the whole party kit below!
My girlfriend was having a baby girl and we thought how cute would it be to have breakfast at her home. So we decided to go with a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” Inspired baby shower. We were a little afraid that it would seen too much like a boy shower because of the tiffany blue, but I think the design is so pretty that it would be good for both boy and girl.
Stars and stripes was the perfect theme for Isabelle as her first birthday was so close to the 4th of July. The tricky part of designing for this theme was to stay away from the red, white and blue we were seeing everywhere for this theme. We wanted to keep it very girly by keeping it pink and sparkly with glitter. I think we achieved our goal of it looking girly and not so much 4th of July-ish. Isabelle’s parents spared no expense when it came to all the details they put in to make the party come together. They had cute goodie bags for all the kids and sparklers to take home for everyone.
The best thing I ever did was invest in a 2in circle punch. Seriously saved my life and time when I was preparing for my son’s Dohl (Korean 1st Birthday). There are so many different types out there but I went with the Fiskars Circle Squeeze Punch Round n’ Round. Presentation and the details are key to makeing your party stand out from just any other party. Packaging up goodies and snacks adds a special touch to your event. I love designing circle tags or labels for all my events because it’s so simple and it makes your party beautiful and memorable. Here are a few examples of the designs I worked on.
We are currently working on a new series called “The Wild ONE” inspired by the book “Where the Wild Things Are” It would be a cute Idea to buy the book and put it out for the guests to enjoy and also sign like a sign in book.
I’m loving how the design is coming out. It very different from all the other designs we have been working on. It’s clean and simple with just white, black, and yellow. It really focuses on typography beautifully. Below is our babies first year milestone poster.
