Yesterday, we celebrated a momentous occasion: my mother’s 70th birthday party. To honor her milestone, we organized a spectacular Roaring 20’s themed event, and we named it her “Roaring 70th.” Just as we had thrown a grand party for my father with his friends, it was only fitting that we did the same for my mom. We went all out, presenting her with a flapper dress that perfectly captured the essence of the era.
Both my sister and I, along with all the guests, dressed up in our finest flapper attire, complete with newsie hats. To ensure everyone could participate in the costume festivities, we provided DIY feathered headbands for the ladies, allowing them to embrace the theme and partake in memorable photos at our meticulously crafted DIY photobooth. The booth featured an enchanting backdrop adorned with pink, silver, gold, and white balloons, exuding a shimmery allure. Magnificent marquee numbers of 70 that stood 3 feet fall.
The atmosphere was further elevated by our selection of classic drinks, including old-fashioned cocktails and our signature beverage, the Seoul Mule, consisting of ginger-infused soju, ginger beer, and yuzu. As the evening progressed, guests indulged in a buffet of delectable Korean cuisine, accompanied by a generous flow of drinks. The festive spirit was contagious, with attendees joyfully embracing the opportunity to dance and sing, reveling in the knowledge that a “little party never killed nobody”.
At the heart of the celebration stood a marvelous four-to-five-layered cake, artistically crafted by Kaye Simply Bakes (Karen) and infused with the delightful flavor of ube. The cake, adorned with pearls and light pink feathers, served as a stunning centerpiece. On top, I placed a lovingly handmade DIY cake topper that stated “Roaring 70th.” Additionally, we had exquisite sugar cookies, intricately stamped with the theme, courtesy of Suger and Design (Samantha).
To express our gratitude to each couple for joining us on this special day, we prepared personalized mini wine bottles accompanied by diamond wine stoppers. Furthermore, we gifted each guest with a photo keepsake from our photobooth, ensuring that cherished memories would endure beyond the festivities.
